Quantum Merchant Services a St Paul Mn based credit card processing company has recently been featured on a Mn NBC affiliate for helping to thwart a ring of identity thieves.

The Identity thieves would set up bogus merchant accounts and then run stolen cards thru the account and keep the cash. It was run by criminals outside the U.S posing as local businesses.


The story aired Monday Nov 10th and highlighted the not so well known process of stealing cards and setting up these bogus Merchant Services accounts to process transactions sometimes running into  the hundreds of thousands of dollars. When they close the account they keep the cash then they do it all over again under another business name.

 It is very hard to catch the criminal since they are typically in other countries.
